Challenging Personal Energy Number Directions and Flying Stars
by Wendy Greer
When I first went through and reviewed the Diamond Feng Shui course, I was not very happy with the "less good directions" associated with the Personal Energy Numbers—"frustration, loss/theft, disease, total loss"—who wants to be focusing on and energizing names like that? When I got to the Flying Stars I was appalled —"illness star, conflict star, disaster star"—yikes!!!
(This post is to help those who have the course. Without it you might not understand your Personal Energy Number or the Flying Stars.)
I forged ahead, working with the concepts and principles of Feng Shui as specified by Marie Diamond. I wanted to ignore those "negative" energies, but it seemed better to take a look at those aspects and do something to minimize or alleviate them rather than pretend they weren’t there.
As I have continued to work with the program myself, and coach others as they do so, I have come to recognize the incredible power inherent in these challenging energies. In China the "Disaster Star" is also known as the "Transformation Star." I like that name much better, not only because it doesn’t carry the charge that the term "disaster" does, but because it connects so definitely with the incredible growth and strength that can result from dealing with the challenges that might be construed as disasters until we recognize the gifts they bear.
As I have coached the various courses we offer here at Learning Strategies, I cannot tell you how many people have told me that a potentially serious or life threatening medical diagnosis has caused a complete turnaround in their life. It forced them to look at what was not working, at those relationships that weren’t based on respect and compassion, and on what they needed to do in order to truly nurture, accept, and love themselves just as they are. So maybe the Illness Star would be better known as the Health Challenge, Growth and Renewal Star?
Conflicts can often lead to walking a mile in someone else’s shoes or figuring out what the other person is mirroring that causes such a charge between you. Perhaps a better name for the Conflict Star would be the Compassion Star—or maybe the Conciliation or Compromise Star, as you meet in the middle and make a new whole out of what seemed to be two completely incompatible approaches?
These same impressions pertain to the "less good" directions associated with your Personal Energy Number. Your frustration direction allows you to find new ways to grow and become successful in whatever area you find most challenging. The loss/theft area might cause you to acknowledge how wealthy you are in those relationships that can never be taken away from you and in the many other intangibles which you are so fortunate to have. The disease direction gives us an opportunity to embrace a healthy, nurturing, self-loving attitude toward ourselves. The total loss area gives you access to, in fact may force, total transformation. When an old paradigm disintegrates, a new one will arise.
Once you have determined where these "challenging" energies are in your space, follow Marie’s guidelines for minimizing them, but don’t forget that they all have their redeeming and growth inducing features.
Here is how I’ve reframed them:
Expansion (Frustration)
Gratitude (Loss/Theft)
Health Consciousness (Disease)
Paradigm Changer (Total Loss)
Transformation Star (Disaster Star)
Self Love Star (Illness Star)
Compassion Star (Conflict Star)
