Alex what exactly do mean when youre refering to "preparing a book", im having a problem with wearing down the spine of my books and im looking for a new method of turning pages?

It applies to all books not just hardcover. If you don't want to break the book from the spine you need to prepare it.

And I recommend doing it with any book that has been stored, in a library or tightly packed between other books for some time, as well.
