Releasing limiting emotions about money

Consider using the Emotional Freedom Technique in conjunction with my new Abundant Money Mindset Paraliminal to help you expose and release any limiting emotions you have around money.

This method for releasing negative energy was developed by Stanford University graduate Larry Craig and is based on the findings of Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist who developed Thought Field Therapy in the 1980s.

Identify an area of concern or issue and create an affirming statement for yourself. For example: “Even though I have behaved in ways that have kept me from the financial outcomes I desire, I deeply and completely love and appreciate myself.”

Then tap a series of nine energy points on your body in this sequence from Nick Ortner included in our Happy for No Reason personal learning course with Marci Shimoff.

You begin with the Karate Chop, the outer edge of the hand that would land a karate chop. Repeat your statement three times aloud while simultaneously tapping the Karate Chop point of one hand using four fingers of the opposite hand.

Then tap the following sequence of points using two to four fingertips:

  • Eyebrow (inner edge closest to bridge of nose)
  • Side of Eye (hard area where brow ends between eye and temple)
  • Under Eye (hard area that merges with cheekbones)
  • Under Nose (centered between nose and upper lip)
  • Chin (between bottom of lower lip and chin)
  • Collarbone (below hard ridge of collarbone)
  • Underarm (side of body four inches beneath armpit)
  • Head (the crow, at center and top of head)

As you tap these remaining eight points, repeat a variety of emotionally charged reminder words and phrases: Limiting thoughts, Poverty, Scarcity, Waste, Fear of money, Growing debt, Self-doubt, and Self-sabotage.

Take a few deep, relaxing breaths. Focus on your concern or issue, and gauge how you feel. Did you feel a release of your limiting emotions?

Repeat the technique, this time replacing the limiting words with positive ones: Abundance, Wealth, Prosperity, Freedom, Integrity, Financial security, Sharing gifts, Independence.

Finally, take a few deep breaths, and gauge how you now feel about your abundant money mindset.Frequently practice this tapping technique before listening to the Abundant Money Mindset Paraliminal to create better outcomes in your life.
