Hello everybody!

It will be the first time i post something here.

I just started doing some breathing qigong exercises a week ago and just 2 days ago I started feeling a strong conctration in my belly. Instead of getting a more relaxed sensation in the abdominal area, i now feel like if i'm carying a rock inside my stomach. I lost also a bit of energy, I'm feeling now quiet tired doing other simple tasks.

Because I believe this sensation has something to do with the breathing exercises, that i supose i've been doing wrongly, i stoped the exercises.

I realise now (by reading more about qigong) that i inhale more than i exhale, that means that i was filling my abdominal most i could, but i wasn't expelling and contracting my abdomen totally. Maybe is that!!

I have winter allergies (sneezing, itchy eyes, itchy neck), wich i believe indicates qi deficiency in the lungs, so I also tried to find something that could relate qigong or breathing techniques with symptoms, to find out proper exercises to myself. Anyway i could find anything relevant.

I don't know if anyone can help me understand more about it.

Thanks a lot

Dear 7iago,

Are you doing exercises other than from the Spring Forest Qigong course, you'll want to follow up with the instructor teaching that method.

If you are doing Spring Forest Qigong, Master Lin recommends this in regards to breathing:

Quote:
"What is the proper way to breathe?"

Breathing is important to your
practice. In Level 1 it is more
important that you breathe slowly
and evenly than it is to do Qigong
breathing.

When you practice breathing like I
suggest, it will soon become second
nature. When you inhale, the area of
your stomach below your navel should
draw in a little. When you exhale,
let it out a little as the abdomen
muscles release in an even flow. This
might be opposite of the way you
breathe, but it helps balance your
body's energy better. I breathe
this way all of the time.

Just remember there is no "right" or
"wrong" way to breathe in Spring Forest,
there is only good, better, best.

Hello Shawn!

To be honest i am not following any style of qigong, but as much as i understood in this quote of Master Lin, there are no right way or wrong way to breath, so it means that i should find the way that I most feel confortable?
