I want to know if it works to practice some active exercises right before or right after meditation. If so, which is better first? Are some of the active exercises better than others to piggyback with meditation?

Either way is fine. Some have reported that doing exercises before meditation helped them calm down and go deeper. Some have reported the other way around, that meditation helped them 'feel the energy' better in exercise.
