Whenever I get a call from a client saying that Effortless Success is not getting them the results they want, one or both of two situations is usually at play. First of all, they are not connected with their goal. Academic goals like "I want $100,000 in the bank by the end of the year" could belong to anyone on the block. They have nothing personal about them and for that reason you are not energetically connected with them. In most cases, it’s not the "stuff" that we want, but the feeling associated with the attainment of that goal.
How will having $100,000 in the bank make your life different—what will you feel and do that you aren’t experiencing now? Does it give you the freedom to turn down some of the overtime you’ve been working to spend some time with your children, who are growing up way too fast? Does it gives you the security to make those travel plans you keep putting off year after year? Is it the cushion that allows you to give up the 9 to 5 job that feels as if it’s shriveling your soul and start writing that novel that has been trying desperately to get out of you for the last ten years?
When you put your personal energy and expectations into your goal it becomes uniquely yours. It is very clear to the universe exactly what results you are looking for and the "like attracts like" component of the law of attraction starts kicking in. When reading your goals gives you the tingle factor, you know you are tuning in to the energy of what you want to draw towards you. There is no mistaking that this $100,000 goal belongs to you and that you know what you want and why you want it!
The other situation that is often in place when people are not getting the results they want has been fed by the "silver bullet" mentality of many of the proponents of the Law of Attraction. They imply that you just have to tune in to what you want, do your affirmations and goal setting, put the goal on your vision board, and then just sit back and wait while the universe figures out how to get you what you want. It’s amazing how many people do these preliminary steps and then sit on their front porch waiting for the red Ferrari to show up in the driveway or the perfect partner to walk up and knock on the door!
While these tools are a great starting point (and they can result in precisely what was asked for), you will notice that the last six letters in the word attraction are "A-C-T-I-O-N!" And that makes everything easier.
If you are totally committed to the attainment of a goal why wouldn’t you do everything in your power to bring it into reality? While doing goal setting, affirmations, and visualizations tunes you in to the energy you want to draw towards you, the universe rewards action. Once you take a few actions steps towards your goal, it’s as if the universe steps out to meet you.
One of the great tools for this aspect of activating the Law of Attraction is the Rule of Five, which Jack Canfield included in his Effortless Success: Living the Law of Attraction course. Each day commit to doing five specific action steps that will move you closer to your goal. These may be small and simple steps, but the cumulative effect can be profound. Because you are keeping your goal in front of you on a daily basis, you stay motivated and your momentum increases.
Another advantage of using this tool is that even the most gargantuan goal gets broken down into manageable steps. This chunking down generates certainty that a long term or breakthrough goal is absolutely possible and feasible. As you continue to do five steps a day toward your goal, your certainty becomes unassailable. The positive, expansive energy that this generates is virtually unstoppable!
